Board of Supervisors
The Board of Supervisors meet monthly at the Township Municipal Building at 595 Hahns Dairy Road Palmerton, PA 18071. Currently, the Board meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm. We invite you to attend these meetings and appreciate any concerns or comments you may have regarding Township matters.
The Board of Supervisors play a central role in Township government. Article 15 of the Second Class Township Code places the general supervision of the affairs the Township in the hands of the Board of Supervisors. Supervisors combine many of the roles found in separate branches or levels of state and federal governments. The Board serves as the legislative body of the Township, through setting policy enacting ordinances and resolutions, adopting budgets, and levying taxes. Since there is no separately elected executive, the Board also performs executive functions such as formulating the budget, enforcing ordinances, approving expenditures, and hiring employees. Although some Township's have hired Managers, most use a Secretary-Treasurer who handles general administration purposes, while the Board of Supervisors oversee and play a larger role in administrative activities and general day to day operations of Township government.

Township Auditors
There are three Auditors that are elected for four year terms, every two years. The Auditors are responsible to approve salary for the Board of Supervisors, in addition to any salary and benefits for working Supervisors. Currently Kenneth Sutton, Sr.; Deborah Imbriaco and Brett Papay are the Township's Elected Auditors.
In addition to Elected Auditors, the Township every year hires a C.P.A. firm to audit the Township's finances. Currently Kirk Summa is the firm that is auditing the Township finances for 2024.

Constable
A Pennsylvania State Constable is an elected office in Pennsylvania. It is the constable's job to enforce the law and carry it out, just the same as the job of district attorneys, sheriffs and the police. Pennsylvania constables have the right in Pennsylvania to arrest by warrant and to conduct warrantless arrests for felonies and breaches of the peace, including warrantless arrests for felony violations of the drug laws anywhere in the commonwealth. They also have statutory powers of arrest. They are exempt from the need to have a carry license for their weapon. A constables is elected to a six-year term.
Tax Collector
Maxine Scherer was elected to serve as the Township's Tax Collector. The duties of the Tax Collector are to collect the Township's property taxes and per capita taxes. In addition to collecting taxes for the Township, Ms. Scherer collects the Palmerton Area School District and Carbon County's taxes from residents and property owners in Lower Towamensing Township.
