Currently, Lower Towamensing Township has one projects that is underway.
Township Sewer Service Collection:
In 2017, the Department of Environmental Protection approved the planning documents for the Township's Sewer Treatment System, The area for sewer service being proposed is the villages of Aquashicola and Little Gap, and covers the Weiner's Trailer Park portion of the township. Additionally, the service area extends north to the former "Fernbrook" property of Forest Inn Road, and West up Fireline Road to the Palmerton Area High School. The main section of the line will run along Little Gap Road to the Blue Mountain Ski Area Sewer Treatment Plant.

March 2021 ~ Complete design of Lower Towamensing Sewage System (including Construction Plans, HOPs, ESPC Plans, ESPC Narrative, Post Construction Stormwater Management (PCSM) Plans), PCSM Narrative, Pumping Station Design Calculations, Wetlands Encroachment Plans, Stream Crossing Plans)
April 2021 ~ Submit NPDES Permit Application to Carbon County Conservation District (CCCD) and PA DEP (this includes overall ESPC Plans and PCSM Plans)
April 2021 ~ Submit stream crossing permit applications (General Permits, GPs) to the PA DEP
April 2021 ~ Submit GP or Joint Permit Application for wetlands encroachment to the PA DEP
April 2021 ~ Submit permit applications for pumping stations (Part II Water Quality Permit) to the PA DEP

June 2022 ~ Township shall award contract and provide Notice to Proceed to Contractor

November 2022 ~ Township shall adopt Mandatory Sewer Connection Ordinance
January 2023 ~ Township shall adopt Ordinance setting forth computational methods of sewer rentals or charges, and setting fees for connections to the sewer system, and setting the types of materials to be used for building sewers
November 2023 ~ Complete construction
December 2023 ~ Begin connection of building sewers to laterals
December 2024 ~ Complete connection of building sewers to laterals
April 2025 ~ Begin final pavement restoration
November 2025 ~ Complete final pavement restoration
